Background - The Reason Why
According to Salem State’s Spring 2026 National College Health Assessment,
• 49.2% of students surveyed reported that their food did not last, and they could not afford more
• 50.5% reported that they could not afford balanced meals.
• Nearly one in four, 24.5%, reported being hungry but not eating because they lacked money. "
• Coat Donations - Hoping for 8 More Raincoats
As of today we have met the Winter Coats Goal of 10 Coats
We have 2 Raincoats and are looking for 8 more raincoats
Our goal is to provide 10 winter coats and 10 raincoats in very good condition.
Reminder: These coats should be in adult sizes.
Please email Jessica at jdharbar@comcast.net before dropping coats off to help monitor numbers.
• Food Donations
Below - The office of Student Life provided two ways to gift food items to the Feed a Viking Market.
Please note, if at all possible, please select a delivery date on a weekday -
NOT Saturday or Sunday or weekend dates.
Thank you all for your compassion and generosity. Please remember that all coat donations and communication to the university should come through me - not to be a control freak but merely so SSU is not bombarded with communiques. Thank you for your understanding on this.

Nepal Relief Fund Donation Link
Another opportunity to help Nepal
from Tricia...
The mother of the Marblehead woman who is a Peace Corp volunteer in Nepal said she would be willing to take two donation bags.
She will be leaving the second week of October.
So if you have any slightly worn clothes, shoes, warm hats or gloves,
please bring them to our Thursday meeting.
All age clothes are needed.
And we still need financial donations.
Please let your friends and families know.
The donation link on our Marblehead Harbor Rotary website is above.
Thank you all for you kindness and support of the people who are half way around the world and suffering so much.
Rotary at work.
