Greeter: No Meeting
“Everyone is talking about the best precautions to take during these uncertain times. After receiving feedback from most board members, we have decided it is best to suspend our meetings for the next three weeks (March 17, 24, 31) and then re-evaluate the situation.
Unfortunately, this means our "new member" event will need to be postponed so please inform your guests.
The information from the state of Massachusetts shows the virus is here in Essex county. The overall numbers are probably understated given the lack of testing and test kits.
Please stay safe and stay in touch. Our rotary family is our family.”
Note: On Sunday night Governor Baker announced unprecedented and far reaching decisions, including a prohibition on gatherings of more than 25 people, impacting our ability to hold regular weekly meetings. We will keep you updated on the impact of Government decisions on our activities. You may click here to read a detailed report on his decisions.

The Board of Directors meeting, scheduled for March 16, will also be cancelled. Business due then will be addressed at the April 16th meeting. If in the meantime you have pressing club business to bring to the Board’s attention, please e-mail club president Kathleen Murphy.

As the corona virus, a.k.a. COVID-19, spreads in Massachusetts, please stay informed about what how you can stay healthy and safe. The State Government has a website dedicated to the outbreak: Click here access the Dept. of Public Health site. Also, the informational and referral hotline 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For infectious disease emergencies, call (617) 983-6800

We welcome Peter Cohen (center in the above photo) to our Rotary family. Peter, sponsored by Bob Erbetta, was inducted last week by club secretary John Williams. We hope to see Peter soon, when our regular club activities resume. Please introduce yourself when you see him at the next club meeting or activity.

We collected special fines and happy dollars last week to add to our club’s contributions for the campaign against polio. A respectable $448 were raised at the club meeting, with a total value of $1,344 (after the 2x1 Gates Foundation match). Our total for the Polar Plunge polio event this year is now, approximately, $2,300. Pat yourself in the back.
Scuttlebutt will take a break while we await new developments concerning the resumption of regular club activities. We will be in touch when developments warrant. In the meantime, if there’s something you would like to share with the club please e-mail club president Kathleen Murphy.
