Scuttlebutt August 8th, 2021
Tuesday we are pleased to host Terry Rezendes Curran our District Governor. I hope we will have a large gathering in-person or on zoom to welcome her and hear her goals for our district. We will have minimal business or announcements.

This past week I neglected to have happy dollars despite having our happy dollar MC extraordinaire present and waiting.  This week we will share happiness.

Last week we honored Peter Cohen and Lauren McCormick with Paul Harris awards.  They have served our community and our club in extraordinary ways this past year.  Dirk also was at our meeting to receive his bling.

This past week the refrigerator was delivered to the Lynn location of North Shore Families together.  It fit perfectly in the garage location that Bruce Whear measured. Dirk joined Linda D and Tricia for the delivery.  We are pleased that we were able to receive a district grant to assist in payment.  Thank you Foundation Committee.

The 25th anniversary committee is moving forward with plans.  One of their first activities will be presenting the logo and some other materials at our Membership Meeting September 14th.  The Membership committee will share the materials they developed last year about Rotary and RCOMH with community members who will attend our Membership meeting.  Everyone is encouraged to bring one or two colleagues to the meeting September 14th.  Please let me know names by September 9th so we can have name tags made and let Louise know how many will be attending. The club will pay the cost of guests that meeting.

Diane et. al. are organizing our two evening POPS extravaganza.  We plan to have fewer people at the Saturday Abbot Hall event. To make fundraising successful we will need more advertisers than usual.  Diane will share information with us at our August Club Assembly.

Thursday, November 11 will be our annual Rotary Foundation event “A Celebration of Our Heroes” starting at 5:30 PM at the Danversport. The evening will include a social hour, silent auction, dinner, and Paul Harris Fellowship presentations.

All Rotary Club are invited to nominate one hero from their community to present them with a Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF) recognition at the event. Candidates could be doctors, nurses, teachers, crossing guards, essential workers, emergency services personnel, armed forces, or anyone else whom the Rotary Club believes to be a community hero – especially those heroes who rose to the challenge during the recent pandemic and helped their communities through tough times. The online nomination form is being sent to Club Presidents.

We would also like to ask all Rotary Clubs to start thinking about silent auction items: we would ideally like to see items with a minimum value of $100, so that we will have a great selection of high-value items that people will be eager to bid on! All monies raised in the silent auction will directly go to The Rotary Foundation!
