FRIENDS FOREVER DAY IN MARBLEHEAD
July 30, 2026

What a day! One might even say it was the luck o’the Irish that influenced the day’s weather!
Our Friends Forever International (FFI) guests and volunteers were able to get out on the water for a harbor cruise aboard Elizabeth M. - the boat and time, generously donated by Captain Doug Mentuck. Adding to the overall on water experience, our FFI guests were informed, first hand, by our famed resident historian, Don Doliber, with notable Marblehead history and folklore.
Following the cruise, the group headed up to Crocker Park, where Linda Doliber shared the story of Marblehead’s beloved resident seal Andre and the history of
Children’s Island.
Next stop, the Mason’s Philanthropic Lodge for lunch followed by the Chemo Bag Project service project led by Linda Doliber and daughter, Joy Schmelzer.
Joy gave a brief overview around the importance these bags are to a cancer patient going through treatment. Not only were 30 bags filled with essentials for cancer patients, but our hearts overflowed with joy as well!

Before heading to Marblehead Little theatre (MLT), gift bags with keepsakes were distributed to the FFI group containing an adorable stuffed seal & mini US flag as a symbol & reinforcement of our strong ties with FFI.

With the sun shining, the FFI teens & staff walked to MLT. Here we experienced exceptional interactive workshops, led by the gifted & talented Ali Mahon Paige. The students creatively interacted with improv prompts that tested their ability to think quickly on their feet and be creative with various scenarios presented throughout the workshop. Great fun was had by all, including the audience filled with Harbor Rotarians, friends and family.
To close out the day, two students gave a heartfelt presentation of what FFI means to them and how the organization has helped them navigate challenging personal situations encountered in their young life.
We ended the day with a group photo at the Theatre and bid farewell to our Friends Forever, wishing them well and safe travels home to Ireland.
