Scuttlebutt February 13, 2022
Hello on Super Bowl Sunday and the day before Valentine’s Day. The Pats and Tommy are not playing. As one member of my family said “nice they are letting the JV teams play”. Hope not too many of you are from Ohio or LA.
Well, this week we are in for a treat: Our favorite storyteller
Judith Black will be our speaker telling a beautiful love story. After this wonderful performance we would like club members to share how they met the loves of their lives (who might or might not be their partners!). Some have human loves, some might have four legged or winged loves, some might have poignant memories. Please share but remember this is a family show.
Hooray: March 1st!!! We will meet in-person and on zoom. We will have coffee/tea and pastries. We all will pay at the door, so we do not need to alter dues. I will get the cost to you once I hear from Louise. Start time is 7:30. I hope we will continue to have speakers from all over as we have had for the last 2 years, so some maybe on our zoom connection.
We have voted to have our
Spring Fundraiser to be a super de duper
yard sale. We need lots of wonderful items to sell both from you and from others, heaps of advertising, oodles of volunteer time, and heaps of smiles and fun. Put May 14
th and 15
th on your calendars. Engagement opportunities include committees: pricing, sorting & organizing, artisan table sales, staffing 2-hour shifts during sale, “cashiers” for check-out table, set up, take down, take-away (to swap shed, magic hat, savers), publicity, banner, signage & balloons.
To All can tab collectors: Hopefully, during COVID you have still been gathering the metal tabs from soup, soda, and cat and dog food containers. Please bring your “stash” to our first in-person meeting on March 1. The Shriners have not stopped flying burned patients here for treatment during the pandemic, and the revenue received from selling the tabs to recyclers is still needed to support that program. If you are zooming for that meeting, please feel free to drop off a bag at 7 Westminster Road any time. They will join with the big bag recently dropped off by former club president Margo Steiner and will be added to the white Rotary bucket on the 1st.
