SCUTTLEBUTT
January 29
Greeter: Rob Deiana (for Kelly McAdams)
WHO’S WITH ROB?

Rob Deiana at the 2018 Polar Plunge

The Polar Plunge is now less than two weeks away. Our cold weather hero Rob Deiana is ready to dive, wade, and swim at Gloucester’s Long Beach on February 9th, but I’m sure he would like some company. But if you don’t want to jump in maybe you’ll join his cheering section. In a message to the Club Rob says, “I have always had a soft spot for the ocean even in February. Please support my plunge as Rotary continues its push to stomp out Polio. We are almost there and every dollar helps!” You heard the man, so click here to sign up to plunge, donate, or be a cheerleader. Or, better even, give donations directly to Club Treasurer Brett Lazar, so they can be bundled and counted as a RCOMH donation. See Brett at the meeting or e-mail him at info.rcomh@gmail.com
BIG TOE PLUNGE
DATE CHANGE

A date change has been announced for the Big Toe Plunge. It’s now scheduled for March 23rd @10:00am and it’s a joint activity with InterAct... except… well… they’ll do the full body plunge. But we need our membrrrrrs to join in and dip their big toe at Devereux Beach. Start thinking about creative ways and outfits to “plunge” your big toe in the water and help eradicate polio.
COFFEE ONLY?

On February 5th the Club will hold its annual lottery for those members who wish to be “coffee only”, and forgo full breakfast. The new “coffee only” cycle begins on April 1st. If you wish to enter the lottery please speak with or e-mail John Williams.
BY THE WAY...

Sick Bay. Cyndi Kilbarger’s adventure on thin ice was just a tad too extreme and she “took a terrible spill”. We wish her a speedy recovery. Joan McCormack is feeling better and looks forward to re-joining the Club soon.
LOA. Kelly McAdams and Heidi Whear requested, and the Board approved, leave of absence. Please come back soon.
Survey. Melissa Stacey finished tabulating the results of the member survey. Michael Cognata will review and share those at the next Club Assembly. Our thanks to Melissa.
Attendance Reminder. Attendance at the meetings will no longer be taken by the Club Secretary. An attendance sheet will be available on the table, left hand side as you come into the hall. Please initial next to your name.

HEALING WINDS

Zhenique Israelian with Martin Trice and Suzanne Johnson of Healing Winds, and Club Preident Michael Cognata

Tomorrow’s speaker at the club meeting is Chef Brendan Cronin, head of the Hospitality major at Endicott College. He will speak to us about the new dining season at La Chanterelle, the beautiful restaurant where his students practice their future trade.
Last week, Healing Winds’ Suzanne Johnson, spoke about the free sailing adventures offered to cancer patients and survivors and their family and friends. Suzanne was accompanied by Martin Trice and Francie King, from the Salem Chapter of Healing Winds, who need not just donations but volunteers. To learn more and help, visit the Healing Winds website.
MARBLEHEAD’S GOT TALENT

Dave Deutsch and Arthur Schwartz with Club Pre

Last week, we also welcomed fellow Rotarians Dave Deutsch and Arthur Schwartz, from the Marblehead Rotary Club, who asked for our support for their Marblehead's Got Talent Performing Arts Scholarship. How can we help? By purchasing tickets for the MGT Grand Finale, with eight wonderful acts, to be held next Wednesday, Febryary 6th @6:00pm, at the Boston Yacht Club. Tickets prices: $50 online or $55 at the door.
TO LEAD OR NOT TO LEAD

Lynnfield Club President Ron Block with Linda Doliber

Linda Doliber spoke at the weekly meeting of the Lynnfield Rotary Club, about the April 27th Rotary Leadership Institute Seminar to be held at the Four Points Sheraton (Wakefield, MA). Linda is the site chair, and made a compelling presentation about the benefits of this interactive, fun way to develop your leadership skills and greatly increase your knowledge of all things Rotary. The District Governor and our Club Board will help members pay for seminar fees, in some cases with a full refund. Pre-register at RLINEA.org or e-mail Linda Doliber for more information.
