FUN AND DRINKS HELP PEOPLE TO TO SCHOOL
We will host the annual scholarship fundraising dinner at The Landing in the last week of February. John Lindahl reminds us of what our club’s scholarship trust is, and what it does in an ongoing blurb series.
“The mission statement of Marblehead Scholarship is “To grow, manage, and administer scholarship funds to meet our community’s needs.” That’s why we developed creative solutions to financing education with the Enhanced Scholarship, the Fraffie Welch and the Second Chance scholarships. We summarize it in our motto, “Lighting the way to brighter futures.” If you’d like to get more information on how we work, contact Becky Linhart or John Williams.”

POEM OF THANKS FOR ROTARY’S
NEW YEAR’S EVE DIN DIN CREW AND SPONSORS
By Judith Black

Please note the night would have been pot-luck
without Dr. Rice and Lenny’s big bucks
Plus the smaller lucre from Rotarian pockets
Meant we would incur no financial debts

With 60 pounds of waiting pork chops
Luis set off to sear and flip-flop
And Mike and Joan were predisposed
To 40 lbs of sweet potatoes

Heidi, Don, Tricia made quick work
Chopping 30 pounds of onions, they did not shirk
Jeff and Kathleen their stuff they strut
as 30 pounds of apples were perfectly cut

The Hawthorne Family, thank-god for all three,
Assembled brilliant cookie ice-cream Sundaes
With her own knives, Linda amasses the veg.
Cleaning and chopping, at the counters edge.

The clients were happy, their tummies fed
But it was New Year’s Eve, not time for bed!
So off we went in sweet harmony
To celebrate and feed our own tummies

Thank you Kathleen Murphy and Judith Black for your contributions to this edition of Scuttlebutt.
