Scuttlebutt January 30, 2022
I hope you all have gotten shoveled or plowed out.  Seems like how much you got was dependent on where you were on the wind scale.  I say hello from sunny but chilly Naples Florida, 550.
This Tuesday we are scheduled to have James Gubbins, Salem State-Living a Fulfilled Life which we all need.

We have lots we are doing as a club:  Our service projects
1. Our yard sale. Find all the many things in your home you would like to share with others.  Either this week or next Jess will share with us her creative ideas, as only Jess can.
2.  Mike is connecting with chefs in town about cooking lessons.  Our speaker last week, Kathrine, cautioned about home cooking vs encouraging folks to go to restaurants but I am sure we can find the middle ground.
3. Old Burial Hill clean up.  Pam will help us with organizing this as Judith B is communicating with Park and Rec about our involvement in this.

Members of our club have been in contact with the new police chief regarding a request for assistance in supporting a small exercise area in the police building. Our Board was asked if this was something we could support with a District grant.  The submission for the grant was imminent, January 31th.  So with Board agreement, as long as we had the funds, we submitted a District grant for $2,000 of which we will be reimbursed $1,000.  The grant is under review.
This year’s Peace and Understanding gathering will be a zoom event February 3rd.  Please go to the District web page for the registration zoom link.

The MHD club is sponsoring Marblehead’s Got Talent event.  February 3rd are the semi-finals and Feb 17th the final event held at the Cabot Theater.  Go to their web site for more details.

The Polar Plunge is scheduled for April 2nd in Gloucester.  Any brave souls?

Camp Rotary is organizing its Centennial Gala Celebration for June 11th.  In addition to the Gala at our midyear District Leadership meeting this week Terry our District Governor, encouraged clubs to consider sponsoring a child to go to the camp.  I will send details later.
